City of Boulder

Communicating the value of open space

Boulder’s unique and breathtaking public lands are home to some of the most diverse natural areas in the entire United States. As a communications specialist for the City of Boulder’s Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department, I strive to tell compelling stories about those special public lands.

WHAT I DO
I direct communications and marketing strategies for Open Space and Mountain Parks, which has a $36-million budget and 128 full-time staff members. In this role, I have developed and implemented numerous marketing and communications plans that have helped the department to accomplish its strategic objectives. Those plans also have earned numerous public relations and creative communications awards.

Integrated communications plans that I have developed also included award-winning community engagement strategies and communications deliverables, which have helped to communicate Open Space and Mountain Parks’ story to the Boulder community. As the department’s communications specialist, I also direct media strategies and field media inquiries, both on-camera and off, from various national and local media outlets.
